Periods

You can view the print periods via Scheduling>Setup>Periods.

Description of the Fields

Print Period

This is the name you wish to assign this period.   A Print Period may span a number of period slots.  

For example; you may have a print period called VTAM (Vo-Tech AM) which spans period slots 1 through 4. 

Print Seq

This field controls the order in which the periods are displayed on the various screens throughout Genesis.

From and Thru Period (aka Period Slots)

The starting and end period slot for this named period. As long as they properly overlap, the Student Scheduler tool does not care if some periods are 1 slot in length and others are 2 slots (for periods that are the same length in minutes). The number of slots assigned to each period in total only has impact when running the Master Class Builder.  

Start and End Time

This is the start and end time of this period.   (For example: 4th Period meets from 10:36am to 11:20am).

If your district is using a Rotating Schedule; then the start and end time fields on this screen are NOT used.  

Instead; the start and end times on the Rotating Schedule Bell Periods are used.

Used in Master Class Schedule Builder

This flag will indicate that the Schedule Builder is allowed to use this period to schedule courses.

Used in Scheduling

This flag indicates if this period is allowed to be used by the Student Schedule (Mass or Individual).

Used in Class Attendance

This flag indicates if this period is allowed to be used or displayed in the Class Attendance module.

Homeroom

This flag indicates if this period is homeroom.

Class Attendance Multiplier

Determines the cost of this period when it is used in the Class Attendance module.

Lunch is offered during this period

Used by the Schedule Builder to determine if lunch is offered during this period.  

It's purpose is to ensure that teachers have at least one period with this flag available in their schedule.
