Current Year New Student Registration

The Registration>New Student screen is used when a new student registers in the District for the first time to attend school in the current school year.

(If you are looking for Pre-Registration - you pre-register kids via Registration>Pre-Register.)

Depending on the layout you’ve selected, the order of tabs may appear differently after the initial required fields for the student.


You can modify the layout via Registration>Setup>Set Reg Screen Layout.


Additionally, there are certain fields that will always be required for registration. You can toggle other fields on/off as required via Registration>Setup>Set Visible/Required, as needed.

 

Step 1:

Navigate to Registration>New Student. This screen is used when a new student registers in the District for the first time to attend school in the current school year.


Enter the required student info. If you miss a required field, a pop-up will appear highlighting the fields you missed.


You won’t be able to navigate to the next section before you enter the required fields for the student.

When finished, click Next.

Note: after you enter the preliminary info for the student (such as Name, Birth Date, and Gender etc) - you can click the “Does Student Exist?” button at the bottom of the screen. If a student matching this student’s basic information exists, a warning will be displayed.


Step 2:

On the Categories tab, enter the info you have for the new student.

When finished, click Next or Go to Contacts (as noted at the top of the page, this is depending on the layout you have.)

Step 3:

On the Contacts tab, you will need to enter the Student info, as well as Guardian info.

There is an Address Search feature - this feature grants the capability to search for addresses of existing contacts within genesis and import the contacts at that address.

Below the search bar will show the student and guardian at that address.

You can also click “Enter Contacts Manually” to continue entering the contacts manually.


When finished, click “Go to Family.”

Note: At this point, you will also have a “Reset Registration” button on the tabs – and you can click that at any time if you need to start over.


Step 4:

On the Family tab, you can enter a Family Code for the student, as well as any Custody or Child Care information.


When finished, click either “Go to Parent Account Creation” (if you have the tab itself enabled) or “Register Student” to complete the registration.

Step 5:

If you have allowed for the Parent Account Creation tab to appear, enter the student and/or guardian info as needed.


When finished, click “Register Student” to complete the registration.


You can also always navigate back a step using the buttons you see on the tab.  

And you can also click the “Reset Registration” button to start over, if needed.
