Subscription Plans

A Subscription Plan is a template of an Event Subscription that can passed on to your users.

Once configured, the plan is pushed out to your users by the role or roles associated with your plan.

Subscription Plans are configured on the "Setup>GenMessaging>Subscription Plans" screen.

To add a plan, simply click the "Add Subscription Plan" button. Now you can type in a name and select a GenEvent. The name field is optional as

Genesis will create a name for you if it is left blank. Next hit the Add button at the bottom of the box and the plan will be created.

Now that we have a plan, we are going to cover some of the options that are available in order to help you decide how to go forward assigning subscriptions to your users.

Only users with a staff member marked to represent them will be able to get subscriptions

Option	Description
Roles	This controls which users can receive the subscription when it is pushed out. At least one role must be selected in order to push out the subscription, but you can add in as many as you like. If you would like to have all users in Genesis to subscribe to an event, use the role "genesis".
School	This allows you to control which school receives a subscription. If you select the high school, then only users with security for the high school will receive the subscription. For instance, if a role of "teacher" is selected for the subscription, then only users with the role of "teacher" for the high school (or * which is all schools) will receive this subscription. You can add as many schools as you like to the subscription plan but at least one is required.
Students with staff member as Counselor	If this option is checked, the subscription push will check to see if the user is a counselor (See User to Staff Mapping section). If the user is a counselor, the subscription will send messages to this user IF the message is about a student who has them as counselor. If a message is about a student does not have the user as counselor, then a message will not be sent. When pushing out the subscription, if a user is not a counselor, then this option will be ignored when creating the subscription.
Students with staff member as Vice Principal	If this option is checked, the subscription push will check to see if the user is a vice principal (See User to Staff Mapping section). If the user is a VP, the subscription will send messages to this user IF the message is about a student who has them as a VP. If a message is about a student does not have the user as VP, then a message will not be sent. When pushing out the subscription, if a user is not a VP, then this option will be ignored when creating the subscription.
Students who are in staff member's Homeroom	If this option is checked, the subscription push will check to see if the user is a teacher (See User to Staff Mapping section). If the user is a teacher, the subscription will send messages to this user IF the message is about a student who is in their homeroom. If a message is about a student not in their homeroom, then a message will not be sent. When pushing out the subscription, if a user is not a teacher, then this option will be ignored when creating the subscription.
Students who are taught by staff member	If this option is checked, the subscription push will check to see if the user is a teacher (See User to Staff Mapping section). If the user is a teacher, the subscription will send messages to this user IF the message is about a student who is in one of their classes. If a message is about a student not in any of their classes, then a message will not be sent. When pushing out the subscription, if a user is not a teacher, then this option will be ignored when creating the subscription.
Students who are coached by staff member	If this option is checked, the subscription push will check to see if the user is a coach (Based on the coaches in the Athletics - Rosters - Team Coaches screen). If the user is a coach, the subscription will send messages to this user IF the message is about one of the students who they coach. If a message is about a student not coached by them, then a message will not be sent. When pushing out the subscription, if a user is not a coach, then this option will be ignored when creating the subscription.
For Conduct Only. Only incidents with staff member as Administrator	As the name implies, this is only applicable to subscriptions for Conduct GenEvents. If this option is checked, the subscription push will check to see if the user is a disciplinarian (See User to Staff Mapping section). If the user is a disciplinarian, the subscription will only send messages to this user IF the message is about an incident that they are listed as administrator for. If a message is about an incident that they are not administrator, then the message will not be sent. When pushing out the subscription, if a user is not a disciplinarian, then this option will be ignored when creating the subscription.

Users to Staff Mapping

A user is defined as a staff type (Teacher, Counselor, Vice Principal, etc) by looking at any staff member assigned to the user that is marked as representing them.

If a staff member is assigned to a user but NOT marked as representing them, then the staff types associated with that staff member will be ignored.

Users can make staff members represent them from the Web Desk>Setup>Staff to User screen or from the Lesson Planner>Setup>Staff to User screen.

This can also be done administratively from the Setup>Security screens.

Subscription Plan Examples

'Student Registration' subscription for all counselors in High School

'Student Birthday' subscription for all teachers and counselors in High School, specific to their students
