Enabling Document Management
ASP / Hosted Customers
Open a help desk support ticket and request that the feature be enabled on your instance.
At this time, districts hosted on the ASP are limited to 500mb of Document Management disk-space.
If you would like to inquire about additional disk space, please contact the help desk.
ASP customers can ignore the Standalone Server Requirements section below.
Standalone Server Requirements
Oracle 11g is required
The database server for Genesis must be running Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 or greater to use the Document Management feature.
To verify the version of Oracle that your server is using; perform the following tasks:
- Log into Genesis as a system administrator account.
- Navigate to the Core>Diagnostics>Config screen.
- The parameter "Database Server" should read something like Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64 bit Production.
- If you do not have at least Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 ; the database server must be upgraded first.
- If you would like to have someone from Genesis perform this upgrade for you then contact your Account Representative and obtain a quote for the service.
Storage Requirements
Document Management has the potential to consume mass quantities of storage.
For this reason; Genesis will not activate this feature on your server until it is verified by Genesis that there is appropriate disk space allocated for Document Management.
Once this has been verified; the feature will then be enabled on your server. You should have at the bare minimum; 100 Gigabytes of space available on a non-operating system partition.
(For Windows servers, this means not the C drive; for Unix systems; this means not any path mounted on the same path as the / partition).
Backups
The Document Management tables are included in a separate backup file. In addition to the 3 backup files today (mm-dd-yyyy.dmp.bz2, mm-dd-yyyy-audit.dmp.bz2 and mm-dd-yyy-audit-view-controller.dmp.bz2) a file will be created called mm-dd-yyyy-documents.dmp.bz2).
