How to set this up in Genesis
This screen shot shows how to add these periods into Genesis.
Notice in this screen shot; how period 3B is set to link to 3B2. This makes the scheduler treat 3B and 3B2 together as unit of 4 slots. Sections that are scheduled into period 3B/3B2 will have 2 subsections; one for 3B and one for 3B2.
In this screen shot; you can see how 3B2 also needs to point back to 3B
9 Periods with 3 Lunches
Periods
This sample layout has the following characteristics:
- Courses are 44 minutes
- Lunch is 30 minutes
- There are 3 lunches
- The middle of a students schedule will contain one of the 3 sets of lunches.
- Because the lunch is 1 slot; the lunch courses in the curriculum should have the field "Meets this many periods per day" set to 1.
- Courses are set to take 2 slots; thus the field "Meets this many periods per day" should be set to 2.
The scheduler will place courses into periods that are x slots long.
With the courses being 2 slots long; the courses will never be placed into a lunch slot; and because lunch courses are 1 slot long; Lunch courses will never be placed in periods for courses.
This configuration would work for districts where lunch is less time than the course.
The length of the course should not matter; as long as it is longer than lunch.
