Creating Code of Conduct Referral for Any Student

If you have the Role permission to create a Code of Conduct referral for students who are not in any of your Gradebooks, you will have a "Teacher Referral" tab under your Gradebook->Home tab:

Under the "Teacher Referral" tab, there are two 4th level tabs:

  • Teacher Referrals by <your name> - This lists all referrals you have previously made and allows you some ability to edit them until a school disciplinarian and reviewed and dealt with them.
  • Create Teacher Referral.  This tab allows you to create a new referral.

Creating Referrals

To create a new teacher referral, click on the Gradebook, Home and Teacher Referral tabs.  Then click on the Create Teacher Referral 4th level tab:

To start creating the referral, begin typing the name of a student into the textfield.  Matching student names will be displayed:

To select the one student for whom to create a referral, simply click on the name of the student:

Then click the "Start Referral" button.  This opens up the referral dialog:

Fields with a red asterisk are required:

  • Posting Date (defaults to today),
  • Incident Date (defaults to today),
  • Reported by (defaults to your name),
  • Location (no default - you must choose),
  • Time Period  or Time (you must select a time period or enter a time).
  • Primary Infraction - "misconduct" infractions are listed.  Serious state-level infractions cannot be entered this way.
  • Description, though without an asterisk, is also required.

The remaining fields are optional.

When you have filled in the information and described the incident, click "Save Referral" to submit the referral.  This creates the referral and returns you to the "List of Referrals" screen, which now includes the new referral:
