A new tool that allows users to upload the FAFSA completion file the district may receive from the HESSA data sharing agreement. Allows CSV or Excel files and can be found on the NJ>Tools>FAFSA Import tab. Securable location: NJ.tools.fafsaImport

What does this import do?

The FAFSA Import tool is used to upload FAFSA completion information onto the student's graduation screen:

Data from the FAFSA completion file is imported into two fields on the student Graduation tab:

-  FAFSA Requirement - Taken from the FAFSA_STATUS column

-  FAFSA Requirement Signed On - Taken from the PROCESS_DATE column

NOTE: The FAFSA Requirement field is ultimately what's reported to NJ Smart. See SID Management article for more details on how this field is reported.

This tool will only set the Student's FAFSA Requirement to "Completed". All other values in the FAFSA_STATUS column will be ignored.

If the PROCESS_DATE column is available, that will set the "Completed Requirement Signed On" field.

If the Student's "FAFSA Requirement" is already set to waived, it will not be overwritten by the import.

From the release notes:

- Update Fafsa Requirement Status: Mark the Fafsa requirement as "Completed" and set the "Completed Requirement Signed On" field in Genesis under Student Data>Modify Student>Graduationtab.

- Pre-Import Preview: Display results before data is imported:

 - Students not found (no match by first and last name in Genesis) will be highlighted in red.

 - Students with a "Waived" Fasfa requirement in Genesis will not be imported and will be highlighted in yellow.
