Users - that is, user logins, gain access to students, by being linked to "Staff Objects":
- A User Login gives you access to the system.
- Your rights to view an individual student are dependent on the "Staff Object(s)" your user login is linked to - and:
- The Staff Object's "job categories" combined with each student's schedule, settings and athletic participation records.
Screen Permissions vs Access to Students
Your User Login and the Roles it is linked to determine which screens you can see as well as what functions you have on those screens.
Access to students is not controlled by Role Permissions. Access to students is controlled by your "identities" and job categories.
- Teachers get access to students if the students are A) in their homeroom or B) in one of their classes.
- Counselors get access to students if the student's "Counselor" field is set to them.
- Vice Principals get access to students if the student's "Vice Principal" field is set to them.
- Disciplinarians (who can manage Conduct infractions and HIB investigations) get access to students if the student's "Disciplinarian" field is set to them.
- Case Managers get access to student's by being assigned in the student's IEP.
- Coaches get access to students if A) the 'coach' staff member is assigned as one of the coaches for a sports team, and B) a student has an active Participation record for the team.
- Principals and Nurses get access to a student if their "school" setting matches the student's.
