Import State Student IDs from NJSmart

Modified on Wed, Sep 25 at 9:48 AM

If you have an excel file from NJ Smart, you can import state student IDs via NJ>NJSmart>NJ Smart Import.

What is going to happen:

  • Genesis will add up to 5 zeros to the front of a local student id when trying to find the student.
  • The state student ids will be assigned to the students in Genesis.
  • If the state student id has changed, it will be updated on the student in Genesis.
  • If the state student id has been removed, it will be removed from the student in Genesis.
  • If there is a duplicate state student id, it will be noted.
  • If there is an invalid local student id, it will be noted.
  • An audit report will be produced and displayed as a PDF

What the expected layout in the Excel file is:

  • Column A - Genesis Student ID
  • Column B - NJ State Student ID
  • Column C - Student's First Name
  • Column D - Student's Middle Name
  • Column E - Student's Last Name

 Import from NJSMID Files

  • Student's will be updated based on the below fields.
  • ResidentDistrictTracking, TuitionTracking, NJSmartRemote, NJSmartStudent and HomelessTracking will be created if they do not already exist.
  • The import will look to see if the student exists by their Local Id (Genesis StudentId).
  • No students will be created.
