Gradebook Profiles contain a 'Progress Reports Settings' screen where options for the Progress Reports can be specified.
The Progress Report Options
The format of the progress reports emailed via the student's "Contacts" screen are controlled by the "Reports" screen in the Profile linked to the class. The Reports screen includes the following options for the email progress reports:
- Only show Graded Assignments – If this is set to Yes, only Assignments that have been graded for the student will be included in the progress report. If this is set to No, all Assignments, graded and ungraded will be included.
- Show Teacher Signature Line – If this is set to Yes, the teacher's signature (as it appears in the teacher's User Profile) will be inserted into the progress reports*.*
- Show Parent Signature Line -If this is set to Yes, a blank line will be provided where the parent can sign so that the report can be returned to the teacher as an indication that the parent has seen it.
- Show Class Averages - If this is set to Yes, class averages for each Assignment category (e*.g. Homework) will be included in the reports. If this is set to No, the *{*}class* averages will be suppressed and not appear in the reports.
- Round Averages to Two Decimal Places – This should always be set to Yes*.* If it is set to "No" averages will be calculated out to 10 decimal places.
- Show Extra Credit Total --If it is set to "Yes" this displays the "brute force" extra credit points that are added to a student's average after the average is calculated from the Assignment grades.
- Translate Numeric Assignment Grades to Alpha – Show the Alpha (i.e. letter) grade equivalents for numerically graded Assignments. E.g. if a students gets a 92.4 on a numerically graded Assignment display the corresponding Alpha grade (e.g. A-).
- Include Parent Comment for Assignments – If a parent comment was made for an Assignment (for a student) include this with the student's Assignment grade*.
Category Parameters: - Show Category Data – If this is set to Yes, then Category information is displayed on the student's Progress Report. If it is set to No, all Category data is hidden. If this is set to "No" the three additional parameters below are ignored.
- Show Category Averages --If this is set to Yes, the student's averages for each Assignment category (e*.*g. Homework) will be included in the reports. If this is set to No, the Category averages will be suppressed and not appear in the reports. This should be set to No if the Gradebook is set to use Total Points.
- Show Category Weights – If this is set to Yes, the weights for each Category are added to the report. E.g. Homework counts for 20% of the MP grade, Tests count for 35% of MP grade, etc. This should be set to No if the Gradebook is set to use Total Points.
- Show Category Scores – If this is set to Yes, the scores the student achieved in each Category are added to each student's report. If this is set to no, individual Category averages do not appear on the report. This should be set to No if the Gradebook is set to use Total Points.
Report options apply to the Progress Reports you can email parents, students, Guidance Counselors, Case Managers and Vice Principals.
Procedure to Set Report Options
To set your Report options:
- Navigate to the *Gradebook>Profiles>List* screen.
- Locate the Profile you wish to edit and click on the P icon button.
- Click the Progress Report Settings tab. This brings up the *Gradebook>Profiles>Reports* screen.
- Select your choices for each of the Report options:
- Only Show Graded Assignments: Yes or No
- Show Teacher Signature Line: Yes or No
- Show Parent Signature Line: Yes or No
- Show Class Averages: Yes or No
- Round Averages to Two Decimal Places: Yes or No(always answer 'yes')
- Show Extra Credit Total: Yes or No
- Translate Numeric Assignment Grades to Alpha: Yes or No
- Include Parent Comments for Assignments: Yes or No
- Show Category Data: Yes or No
- Show Category Averages: Yes or No
- Show Category Weights: Yes or No
- Show Category Scores: Yes or No
- Click Save to save your choices.
