Active Directory and the Parent Portal

*NOTE: Active Directory for Parent Portal is not supported for Districts that are Hosted  by Genesis (Running on our servers)

Features

• This feature only works on Apache Tomcat 7.
• Ability for authentication of parents / students to be handled by a Microsoft Active Directory Server
• This feature can be enabled on a user by user basis

Connect Genesis to Active Directory

Before proceeding, you will need to connect Genesis to Active Directory.  This can be done on the Setup.Security.Active Directory tab.

Enabling individual users

On the Parents.Setup.Modify User screen there is a check box called "Active Directory Enabled".  If this is enabled, the password check will be forwarded to Microsoft Active Directory.

What changes

All password and authentication management is deferred to Microsoft Active Directory when this option is enabled for a user.  Be aware that....

1. Users will no longer be able to change their password from within Genesis
2. Administrator will no longer be able to change users passwords from within Genesis.
