User Text Field Creation and Configuration
User Text fields are defined on the Setup→Districts→Master District Parameters→User Text screen:
Creating a User Text Field
To create a User Text field, click the button. This brings up the "Add User Text Field" dialog:
- Code - Required field
- Description - Required field
- Ross for Mass Change -
- For: Select "Students", "Staff" or "Both"
- Seq -
- Allow to Rollover
- Archive
Click the "Add User Text Field" button to create the field. It is inserted in the list of User Text fields based on the "Seq" number:
Once the User Text field has been created, it can be configured to be a specific type of field:
- Text Field - This is the default. A single line of upto 255 characters.
- Drop Down - A custom list of drop down options, each optionally coupled to an icon (see below).
- Text Area - A multi-line text area.
- Date - Convert the User Text field into a Date field.
After selecting the desired type, click the (floppy disk) Save button to store the configuration.
Define the Drop Down List for a "Drop Down" Type User Text Field
To configure a Drop Down list, select "Drop Down" as the 'type' of the User Text field. This displays a "Create" button.
Click the "Create" button to bring up the "Options" dialog:
An icon can be associated with each option for the User Text field. When an option is selected for a student, the attached icon will be displayed in the student's Student Information Bar.
