Basic Parameters
Click here to learn more about Attendance Propagation.
You can check/uncheck various options on the Setup>Schools>Modify School>Basic Params tab as needed, per school.
General Options |
School Start and End Date
The Start and End date are used primarily in attendance functions in Genesis. They are the basis for counting possible days for a student and setting the beginning and end dates or various tracking tables. The changing of these fields will have an impact on attendance throughout the system. Student's daily attendance will either be added to, or taken away with the changing of these dates. The same goes for all student tracking tables including a student's Attendance Register, ELS Tracking, Lunch Tracking, Resident District Tracking, etc.
Allow Genesis to Update Homeroom's based on a Student's Daily Schedule
Student Maintenance Daemon will cycle through today's student schedule looking for a course that meets in period marked as HR.
Allow Homeroom's to be updated when schedule changes are made
This is used when you are adding or dropping a course to a student's schedule.
When this option is checked, if you ADD a course into the HR period, the student's HR will change to that course
If you DROP the HR course, and this is checked, the HR is removed from student.
If it's not checked, then the student HR is left alone as is, regardless of any scheduling changes.
Generate Lunch Pins on Registration
If this is checked, Genesis will supply a Lunch Pin to a new student when registered.
Show Alpha Grade over numeric if both exist
May not be honored on all circumstances and screens
Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses
If this is checked, students will be considered Gifted and Talented when they are taking a course flagged as Gifted and Talented. This option checks for active courses in the current school year that are set as Gifted and Talented. Gifted and Talented students will be reset when the school year ends.
When this option is checked, Gifted and Talented students will be reset, and each student will be mark as Gifted and Talented depending on if they are taking a Gifted and Talented course.
CLASS ATTENDANCE PROPAGATION |
Allow HR Class Attendance to post Daily Attendance
Having this checked will propagate the posted Class Attendance to Daily Attendance if the class from which it is posted is a Student's Homeroom. See Class Attendance for the mapping of Class Attendance Codes to Daily Attendance Codes.
Allow Period Attendance to overwrite posted Section Attendance:
If a student has multiple subsections for a single section in the same day and you are posting period attendance, which posted attendance code counts for that single section? If this option is not checked, then the first period that the section meets counts as the section attendance value for the day. If it is, then it is the last subsection that meets and has attendance posted for it.
Allow HR Class Attendance to overwrite posted Daily Attendance for future and past dates
By default, even if you have the Allow HR Class Attendance to post Daily Attendance option checked, Genesis will not propagate the posted Class Attendance to Daily Attendance for a day prior to today's date, unless this option is checked.
Allow HR Class Attendance to send parent notifications for Daily Attendance propagation
If this is checked, the notifications will work with the class attendance propagation as well. Once that is checked, the notifications will be sent for the proper attendance codes.
DAILY ATTENDANCE PROPAGATION |
Allow Daily Attendance to propagate to Class Attendance
If checked will Genesis will post Class attendance for Student based on Daily Attendance value (so long as Daily Attendance Code is mapped to Class Attendance). If a student is marked absent, then a student will be marked absent for all period sections that have not already been posted by a teacher. If a student is marked tardy with time, then all classes previous to marked time will be posted including the current period if has already been in session for more than 10 minutes.
Lock posted HR Class Attendance from Daily Propagation
Genesis will ignore Allow Daily Attendance to propagate to Class Attendance option if the Class that is being posted to is a student's HR.
