Manage creation of classrooms


 - Clicking this allows you to create a new google classroom and roster students or select and existing one to link.

- This is to warn if there are students who are not rostered


Gradebook

Manage grades to and from Google Classroom

Get Grades from Google

  • returns all grades currently in classroom for an assignment with an option to override
  • Only returns Final/Published grades, not draft grades
  • Student names are found by matching up the Google ID on the submission to the Google ID on the Student in Genesis. If a student does not appear in this list, or the name is blank that is most likely the reason why.
  • can be clicked to refresh the gradescan be clicked to refresh the grades
  • can be clicked to view the submission in google classroom 

Save Grades

  • If assignment was created in Google Classroom then grades can only be updated in Genesis. Any changes in Genesis will not be reflected in classroom.
  • If assignment was created in Genesis and the grade is updated in Genesis, an option will appear to push the grade to classroom

Rosters

Manage rostering of students with Google Classroom

Sync Google Classroom Roster

  • Shows a confirmation popup that will validate (ensure all rostered students are still in classroom) and roster the remaining students
  •  will send an individual student to classroom
  • will remove an individual student from classroom


Assignments

Manage coursework with Google Classroom

Assignment List

  • will send and assignment from Genesis to Google
  • will send an assignment from Genesis to Google with no start date
  • will bring you to the assignment in classroom
  • Assignments cannot be sent from Genesis to Google if the due date/time is BEFORE today. All assignments with a due date/time before today will have the symbol.


Add Assignment

Save Assignment

  • If the Date and Time due are after the current date/time the assignment can be sent to Google
  • On save an option to 'Create Classwork in Google Classroom' will appear, this will create the assignment in google and link the two together
  • On save an option 'Send Assignment as a Draft' will appear that will allow the assignment to appear in Classroom as a 'Draft' that will then need to be publishes

Modify Assignment

  • in the top right corner, will bring you to the assignment in classroom
  • in the top right corner will create the assignment in google
  • If an assignment is brought down from google, the fields that can be edited are limited. The following cannot be edited in Genesis:
    • Assignment Name
    • Description
    • Date Due
    • Time Due
    • Google Topic
  • Otherwise, if any of those fields are updated and Save Assignment is pressed an option to update the connected assignment in Google is presented


Google Topic

  • Can be done on modify or create assignment
  • Can select an existing topic to add
  • will bring up a menu in order to modify/create/delete topics and have them updated in Classroom, as well as fetch any new ones from classroom
  • Topics from Google cannot be edited/changed from within genesis and will be shown as not editable within the popup

Gradebooks

List of Gradebooks for teacher

  • Gradebook is linked to classroom
  • can be clicked to sync gradebook to classroom (same as Home->Summary popup)

Gradebook Options

Update multiple Genesis Assignments from Google

  • Pulls down assignment information from Google based on what was selected, and updates the assignments in Genesis with that information
  • Useful for when an assignment has been updated in Google and the teacher wants it reflected in Genesis

Find unsynced assignments from Google Classroom

  • This will reach out to classroom and pull down any assignments that have not yet been pulled into Genesis
  • Useful for when a teacher makes a new assignment in classroom but does not see it in Genesis

Sync Google Classroom Roster for this Gradebook

  • Same process as Sync Google Classroom Roster
  • Unlinks a Genesis assignment from the google assignment it is attached to
  • Assignments CANNOT be relinked once this is done
  • This will unlink the Genesis Gradebook from the Classroom
  • The classroom will still exist
  • Can only be done if there are NO linked assignments in the gradebook

Options affected assignments that are linked from Genesis to Classroom

Update multiple Genesis Assignments from Google

  • Pulls down assignment information from Google based on what was selected, and updates the assignments in Genesis with that information

Find Grades from Google

  • Pulls in grades from google to be imported later
  • Option to choose which marking period will be searched for grades
  • Unlinks a Genesis assignment from the google assignment it is attached to
  • Assignments CANNOT be relinked once this is done

Update Genesis Assignment from Google

  • Pulls down assignment information from Google based on what was selected, and updates the selected assignment in Genesis with that information

Sync Grades between Genesis and Google

  • Shows all students on an assignment plus their grade in google + their grade in genesis. The selected grade will be pulled into Genesis and pushed to Classroom. Can also manually type in a grade and have it updated in both systems

Find grades for Assignment from Google

  • Finds grades for a google assignment, does NOT update the grade in Genesis, just pulls them down from Google

Assignments only in Google

These options only affect assignments that are just in Google Classroom

  • Pulls in assignments from classroom

Bring in multiple Assignments to Genesis

  • Select an assignment you pulled down from classroom and create an assignment in Genesis that is linked to it

Bring in multiple Assignments + Grades to Genesis

  • Select an assignment you pulled down from classroom and create an assignment in Genesis that is linked to it
  • Will populated created assignments with grades from classroom

Hide multiple Assignments in Genesis

  • If an assignment was pulled won from Google, but will never be pulled into Genesis, this will hide it from the list of assignments
  • Assignments can be 'unhidden'

Bring in Assignment to Genesis

  • Select an assignment you pulled down from classroom and create an assignment in Genesis that is linked to it

Bring in Assignment + Grades to Genesis

  • Select an assignment you pulled down from classroom and create an assignment in Genesis that is linked to it
