Splitting PDF files before importing into Genesis

Modified on Fri, Dec 8, 2023 at 2:40 PM

Overview

This article is for districts who need to import a single PDF file containing a batch of student documents separated by page numbers. This is commonly found in score reports received from testing companies, and files such as this cannot be uploaded directly into Genesis.

Splitting PDF Files

In order to import the batch of student documents into Genesis, the large PDF document must be split up into individual documents (files) per student. This way, each student's document is represented by a separate file. To mass import student documents, the filenames always have to contain the student's ID number. The system uses this to determine which student to store the document to. See One Time Document Upload for more information on the import process in general.

Recommended PDF-File 'Splitter'

Based on customer feedback, the suggested tool you can use to split PDF files is by using this product:

This tool will allow you to import a single PDF file containing a batch of student documents, separate them, then export the individual documents that are generated by the split.

Please note the following:
- The above product is not affiliated with Genesis. There may be a cost associated with using the PDF-splitter tool.
- Genesis cannot support issues encountered with this product.
