NJ ASSA Options

An important message about reporting Free & Reduced Lunch counts on NJ ASSA

NOT AVAILABLE for 2022-23 ASSA

THIS OPTION NOT AVAILABLE  IN THE 2022-23 ASSA

The Collect Data screen now has an option to include or ignore "carry over" lunch records:

"*Check this to include student carry over lunch records that were extended 30 operating days into this school year."

Be sure to set this option accordingly, and then click "Collect Data" to run your ASSA totals.

Please use the following information when determining whether you should check this or not:

CHECKED - the ASSA report will include carry-over records as well as any student receiving free or reduced lunch as of the snapshot date (October 15th).

UNCHECKED - the ASSA report will exclude carry-over lunch records, but will now include any student who receives free/reduced lunch up until the final certification of ASSA regardless of date.

From the official NJ ASSA FAQ:

"A school district can certify its ASSA Low Income count supported by carryover applications and current year applications received as of the count date.

Alternatively, a school district can update its free/reduced counts through the date of its final ASSA certification.

If the district chooses to update its low income free/reduced counts through the date of final certification using the current year applications for those students, then no carryover applications can be included.

Regardless of which option is selected, the final ASSA submission must reflect only students that were counted as "on-roll" on the count date."

To print out ASSA info, go to Attendance>ASSA>Analyze Data and locate the "Print All" and "Print Audit" radio buttons. With one of those checked, you can then click on the printer icon in the top right to print out this info.
