Managing Action Codes

- Users now have the ability to tie a user flag to an action. If a student is assigned the action, the student

will be given the user flag for the number of days that the student has been assigned the action. Once the last

day of the action has been passed, the user flag is removed.

- If an action code is tied to a user flag, the flag cannot be manually changed. The assignment of the flag is fully

controlled by the dates of the action for the student.


Action Code List Screen

The Action Code list screen (Code of Conduct>Setup>Conduct Codes>Action Codes) displays all action codes in all groups:

Procedure to Add an Action Code

  1. Go to the Conduct>Setup>Conduct Codes>Action Codes screen.
  2. Locate the "Add" button at the bottom of the screen and click it. This brings up the Create Action Code form.
  3. Fill in the form:
    1. Action Group – Select the Action group (e.g. Detention)
    2. Action Code – This must be a short unique identifier for the new action code. Maximum 8 characters in length, letters, numbers and the underline (_) character are legal. Spaces and special characters are not allowed.
    3. Action Description - This is the free text description of the new code.
    4. Seq – The sequence number places this new code into the list of action codes: codes are sorted only by their Seq numbers, not alphabetically.
    5. Detention – If yes, this is a Detention action.
    6. Suspension – If yes, this is a Suspension action.
    7. Expulsion – If yes, this is an Expulsion action.
    8. Used in State Reporting - If yes, this code is used for generating state reports. Use of this depends on the state's requirements.
    9. Default Action for Auto Point Removal – This is the action used as the action code for the "point removal" incidents.
  4. Click Save to create the action code

Procedure to Add an Infraction Code

  1. Go to the Conduct>Setup>Conduct Codes>Action Codes screen.
  2. Locate the "Add" button at the bottom of the screen and click it. This brings up the Create Infraction Code form.
  3. Fill in the form:
    • Action Group – Cannot be modified.
    • Action Code – Cannot be modified.
    • Action Description - This is the free text description of the new infraction code.
    • Seq – The sequence number places this new code into the list of infraction codes: codes are sorted only by their Seq numbers, not alphabetically.
    • Detention – If yes, this is a Detention action.
    • Suspension – If yes, this is a Suspension action.
    • Expulsion – If yes, this is a Expulsion action.
    • Used in State Reporting - If yes, this is a Suspension action.
    • Default Action for Auto Point Removal – This is the action used as the action for the "point removal" incidents.
  4. Click Save to create the action code

Procedure to Remove an Action Code

  1. Go to the Conduct>Setup>Conduct Codes>Action Codes screen.
  2. Locate the code you wish to delete and click the trashcan delete icon.
