Student Maintenance Task

Overview

Student Maintenance updates several pieces of data on the Student object every night.  Based on today's date at the time this task runs, it synchronizes data such as the following:

  • Student's current age
  • Free and Reduced Lunch status/code
  • Homeless status
  • 504 status
  • Counselor's name
  • Homebound status
  • Sets Home Language and Primary Language to English if blank
  • Sets Disciplinarian field based on student's Vice Principal
  • Calculates Adjusted Credit Records
  • Syncs other statuses not mentioned in the above list

Options

Update Graduation Requirements Data

This option will tell the Student Maintenance Task to update the graduation requirements data every night. This option pertains only to requirements meaning earned credit totals; it does NOT pertain to graduation requirements for Assessments. That is automatically updated every night regardless of this option.

The data is stored in the StudentGraduationRequirement object in Report Writer. Normally, this data is updated on demand for a student when a user visits the student's Next Year Requests.Grad Requirements screen.

Note: This process can add a significant amount of time it takes for the task to run. Once enabled, you should check the log files (Core.Scheduler.Logs) the next morning to ensure that it is not running too long (or has not been preempted by another task such as the Upgrade task).

Automatically remove Designated Spec Ed setting for all students with an exited IEP

When checked, this looks for all students with an exited IEP (IEP record with a Spec Ed Exit Reason and Exit Date) and sets their Designated Spec. Ed. flag to NO on the Demographics.Required screen.
