NJ ASSA Options

Modified on Wed, Apr 12, 2023 at 8:38 AM

OPTION 1:  Check this if to include Students with active Alternate Education Program Tracking records in the ALTERNATE program.

Students with an Alternate Education Tracking record will be place in the Alternate Program in ASSA.

OPTION 2:  Allow ASSA to include previous lunch determinations of eligible students registered in the district as of October 15, 2021 that submitted Household Information Surveys in 2019-20 or 2020-21 and have not submitted surveys in 2021-22. A student's 2019-20 survey can only be used if they did not submit a survey in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Schools participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) may use this option.

If you have a determination from a new application for this school year, ASSA will use that determination. If you do not, then it will drop back to the previous year. If no determination from that year, it will drop back again, etc.

OPTION 3: Never use Lunch Records started after 10/15.

Typically you may continue to update your low income free/reduced counts through the date of final ASSA submission. By checking this, ASSA will NOT include students who were enrolled on the 15th but did not start free/reduced lunch until after the 15th.

OPTION 4:  Allow Direct Cert lunch carry-over records to be included in free/reduced counts. (not recommended)

Option works in conjunction with Option 2.  If option is selected then previous year DC will be included in the logic.
