Using Different Check-In Codes at Different Times of the Day

This capability gives you the ability to display different Attendance codes on the Check-In screen at different times of the day.
If a 'gap' occurs where no code is active, check-in capability is turned off.
Codes can now optionally have start and end times:

Where the start ("Available starting at...") and end ("No longer available at...") times are blank, the codes work as they always have: they are always available on the Check-In screen (as long as they are selected to be used in the school):

Where a time is specified in either the start time field, the end time field, or both, the code is available on the Check-In screen during only part of the day.
How the Time Fields Work
For a single time field
- If both time fields are blank: The code is available all day. This is how the function has always worked.
- The "No longer available at ..." field has a time in it and the "Available starting at..." field is blank: This is the "end time" field. The code is available from the start of the day (in essence, from midnight) until the time specified. Atter that it is no longer displayed until the next day.
- The "Available starting at..." field has a time in it and the "No longer available at ..." field is blank: This is the "start time" field. The code is suppressed (not available) until the time specified in the "Available starting at..." field. It then remains available for the remainder of the day.
- Both time fields have times in them: The code is available on the Check-In screen from the time specified in the "Available starting at..." field until the time specified in the "No longer available at ..." field. Before and after those times the code is suppressed.
Interactions Between Multiple Time Fields
- If there is a gap between times, no code applies and check-in is prevented. See below "Overlapping Times"
- If times of multiple codes overlap: a code begins before another ends, then multiple codes are in force and the Check-In screen presents a choice of codes. See below.
Overlapping Times
Codes Start & End at the Same Time
To "end" one code and start another immediately, both codes must have the same time:

The "No longer available at..." field ends at the precise time specified. In the above example, this is 07:50:00am. The "Available starting at..." field essentially also begins at the precise time: 07:50:00. There is no gap and no overlap.
Code Times Overlap
If the codes actually overlap and multiple codes are in force at the same time, the Attendance Check-In screen presents a choice of codes:
This would arise if a code began before another code ended, or simply, if multiple codes are simultaneously in force:
GAPS
A "gap" is when no code is active. It can be because
- No codes have been configured to be Attendance Check-In codes.
- There is a 'time gap' between multiple time-based codes
A gap can be one minute or more long. For example, if the "No longer available at..." time for one code is 7:50AM while the "Available starting at..." time for the next code is 7:51AM. From 7:50:01AM to 7:50:59AM - 59 seconds - no code will be active. Gaps can of course be longer than 1 minute.
During a "gap" when no code is active the Check-In facility is turned off: students cannot check-in.
