You can change what displays on the ATTENDANCE tab in the parent portal via Parent Access>Setup>Settings>School Settings>Attendance:

Parameter

Notes

Attendance Totals Options

  • Show Totals on Calendar: This field controls whether the totals are displayed on the Daily Attendance screen
  • Show Totals as Count: If this field is checked, then the totals displayed will show a count of attendance transactions rather than the value on the attendance code.  For instance, if an absence code has a value of .5, then 2 attendance transactions with code would equal 1.0 if this is not checked.  If this field is checked, the total would be 2.
  • Show Truancy Total: This field will show a Truancy count in the attendance totals.
  • Show Tardy to Absent Total: If checked, the Tardy to Absent total will appear with the other attendance totals on the Daily Attendance screen
  • Show Tardy Splits: If unchecked, parents will no longer see the unexcused and excused totals for tardies. The overall total will still appear.
  • Show Absence Splits: If unchecked, parents will no longer see the unexcused and excused totals for absences. The overall total will still appear.

Show Comments

This field allows a comment posted by the attendance office on a students attendance be shown as a tool tip on the students calendar.

Notify Attendance

Display Attendance Office Notes: This setting allows parents to submit attendance notes from the Parents Module to your Attendance Office.

Allowable Attendance Types: Controls which attendance 'types' (present, absent, etc) are available for parents when adding an attendance note.

Maximum Consecutive Days: Restricts the amount of consecutive days a parent can select when entering a note. Hint: to prevent parents from entering an absence for multiple days in a row, set this to 1.

See Parent Attendance Notes for more information about the notes inside of Genesis.

The Notify Attendance Office documents how to set up this feature in your district.

Show Student Passes

This allows student passes to appear in the parents module.  Student Passes always appear for student accounts.

Allow Student Checkin

If checked, students will be able to check in to classes real time from the Parent/Student Module by posting a class attendance code.
