Gifted and Talented Flag

There is a "Gifted and Talented" checkbox located on student records via Student Data>Modify Student>Demographics>Categories.

There is a "Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses" option on the Setup>Schools>Basic Params screen.

If this is checked, students will be considered Gifted and Talented when they are taking a course flagged as Gifted and Talented.

This option checks for active courses in the current school year that are set as Gifted and Talented. Gifted and Talented students will be reset when the school year ends.

When this option is checked, Gifted and Talented students will be reset, and each student will be mark as Gifted and Talented depending on if they are taking a Gifted and Talented course. This will clear all the current Gifted and Talented Students, and any student's taking a course set as Gifted and Talented will be set as Gifted and Talented students.

Disabling this feature will not change students' Gifted and Talented status. With this feature on, the Gifted and Talented status of students cannot be changed manually.

On the Scheduling>Curriculum>Modify screen, a new field has been added. If the "Gifted and Talented Course" field is checked, and the "Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses" field is checked on the Basic Params screen, any students taking the selected course will be set as Gifted and Talented.

If the "Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses" field is not checked, this screen can still be used to set courses as Gifted and Talented, however, this will not change the Gifted and Talented status of students.

When adding, dropping, and replacing courses inside Student Data>Modify Student>Current Year Schedule, if the "Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses" field is checked on the Basic Params screen, the Student's Gifted and Talented status will be affected.

When using Mass Add, Mass Delete, and Mass Change, inside the Scheduling>Mass Updates screen, if the "Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses" field is checked on the Basic Params screen, the
Student's Gifted and Talented status will be affected.

The Gifted and Talented field inside Student Data>Mass Change screen will not affect the Gifted and Talented status of students if the "Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses" field is
checked on the Basic Params screen.

There is a new tool inside Scheduling>Curriculum>Tools called "Reset Students' Gifted and Talented Status". Running this tool will change the Gifted and Talented status of every student to no. This tool will only work if the "Calculate Gifted and Talented Students using Gifted and Talented courses" field is not selected.

If you do not use the option mentioned above, you would need to set this field manually or with student lists via Student Data>Mass Change.

Additional Info

There is an option called "Show Gifted and Talented Icon in Student Information Bar". This can be found on the Setup>Districts>Master District Parameters>Basic Params screen.  This option just controls whether the icon will be displayed for students who are marked as gifted and talented or not.
