Lesson Pals

PLEASE NOTE: If you are experiencing issues with teachers not seeing info from one of their lesson pals, please verify that they have both sent, received, and accepted lesson pal requests. It MUST go both ways.

TIP: If you need to review another user or teacher's set up on this screen, you may want to look into using our Ghost Session feature. Please click here to review this feature.

Lesson Pals are other teachers with whom you want to share Unit and Lesson Plans with by sending their logins Lesson Pal Requests!

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Sending and Receiving Lesson Pal Requests

Remember that the Lesson Pal requests work one way; which means that when you make a Lesson Pal request it is because you want to share your plans with that user.

You will want the other user to also send you a separate Lesson Pal request so that way they will be sharing their lessons with you as well.

On the Lesson Planner>Setup>Lesson Pal Requests screen, select a user you wish to share your plans with from the 'Select teacher to invite' drop down box and click the 'Send Lesson Pal Request' button.

Only the login accounts belonging to teachers in your school will be available in this list.

  • This will update your 'Lesson Pal Requests you have sent' area with the pending Lesson Pal request
  • At this point you will wait for the user to process your request and also send you back a request in return

When a user receives a new Lesson Pal request they will see a bright green banner on the Lesson Planner Calendar screen with a message telling them they have a new pending Lesson Pal request.

In the 'Lesson Pal Requests you have received' area, you can set the status of each Lesson Pal request that you have received

  • You can Accept, Ignore, or Reject the Lesson Pal request
  • Select a 'Status' and click the 'Save - icon

Once the other user has accepted your Lesson Pal request your Unit and Lesson Plans become visible to them on the Browse Books and the Lesson Planner Calendar screens

Accessing Lesson Pal Books

At the bottom of the Lesson Planner->Lesson Books->Browse Books screen there is a "Lesson Pals Books" area.

Initially, before anyone has sent you a Lesson Pals Request, your Lesson Pal Books area is empty.

Once another user has sent you a Lesson Pals Request, and you have accepted, you will be able to see their shared Lesson Books.

Similarly, if you send a Lesson Pals Request to another user, once they have accepted, they can see your Lesson Books.

This section shows you every lesson book that your Lesson Pals have in the current school and the total numbers of units and lessons that make up each book

You are limited to read only access to these lesson books, meaning you cannot edit your Lesson Pals' books

You can view, print, and copy your Lesson Pals' Units and Lesson Plans.

  • Clicking on the number of Units will populate the 'Units' section with a listing of that lesson book's units
  • Clicking on the number of Lessons will populate the 'Lessons' section with a listing of that lesson book's lesson plans

Clicking on the 'Copy Icon' for a Lesson Pal's Unit will open up a copy prompt that will let you specify which of your Lesson Books you want to bring the Unit Plan into.

  • Use the 'Keep start dates' check box to optionally keep the start dates originally set on each lesson plan by your Lesson Pal
  • Clicking on the 'PDF Icon to the right of a Unit Plan will open up a printable PDF Unit Plan Summary

You can copy either one Lesson Plan at a time or you can copy an entire week's worth of Lesson Plans from a Lesson Book

  • Click the 'Copy' button next to an individual Lesson Plan to only copy the one Lesson Plan
  • Click the icon to copy an entire week's worth of Lesson Plans from the selected Lesson Book

Once you've used one of the copy buttons, you can now go back to your Lesson Planner Calendar and paste the Lesson Plan(s) into your Lesson Book

To paste an individual Lesson Plan use one of the 'Paste' buttons to place in the Lesson Book and on the date that you want it

To paste an entire week's worth of Lesson Plans click the icon next to the Lesson Book you want the lessons to go into.

The copied Lesson Plans will come over in the order that your Lesson Pal had them laid out.
