Lesson Plans Screen

Adding a New Lesson Plan

To add a New Lesson Plan select a Unit Plan at the bottom of the screen, and click the 'Add New Lesson to Unit' button 

  • This will create a Blank Lesson Plan with no Start Date
  • If you do not use multiple Unit Plans, then all of your Lesson Plans will exist in Unit 1

Deleting a Lesson Plan

To delete a Lesson Plan from your lesson book, click the 'Trashcan button to the right of that Lesson Plan

  • You can also use the check boxes and trash can to the left of the Lesson Plans to delete multiple Lesson Plans at once

Other Options and Buttons

  • Title - Free text field that allows you to rename your lesson plans at any time
  • Start - This is the start date of your Lesson Plans
  • Dates - This shows you how many days the Lesson Plan is set for and the dates themselves
  • Share - This allows you to make this Lesson Plan shared with your Lesson Pals or not
  • Public Library - This adds this Lesson Plan to the Public Library of Lesson Plans - A place where all Public Library shared Lesson Plans are available to be viewed and copied
  • Linked - Shows you your other Lesson Books that the Lesson Plan is linked to - Linked Lesson Plans are completely tied together copies, so if you make changes to one it occurs in the other
  • Standards - This shows you the standards that are tied to your Lesson Plan - You can click the button the right of the name 'Standards' to show you the standards in full detail
  • Clicking this will give you a printable PDF summary of your Lesson Plan
  • Opens up the Modify Lesson Plan Parameters screen

Customization Parameters

  • Unit Plan - You can set the Unit that this Lesson is under
  • View Unit Fields - If you have Unit Fields setup you can click this button to view and copy them
  • Lesson Title - This is the name of the Lesson Plan. Feel free to change this at any time
  • Days - This is the length of the Lesson Plan in days. Currently ranges from 1 to 6
  • Time - Optional field that allows you to record the time of day that the Lesson Plan is taught at. - If you view your Lesson Planner Calendar by Date this time will be used to sort your Lesson Plans
  • Sharable - This allows you to make this Lesson Plan shared with your Lesson Pals or not
  • Public Library - This adds this Lesson Plan to the Public Library of Lesson Plans - A place where all Public Library shared Lesson Plans are available to be viewed and copied

Standards

You can attach standards to your Lesson Plan by using the '' button. When you click this, a pop up window that allows you to search for standards will appear.

 

Select a subject, standard, and grade level(s), then click the 'Search Standards' button

Use the check box to the left of the standard to select it.

  • There is no limit to the amount that you can select at once
  • You can also add standards from multiple strands and subjects, you are not locked into one selection

You can optionally use the 'Star  to the right of a standard to add it as a 'Favorite Standard'

  • This way it will show up when you filter your search by 'Favorites Only'

Once you've selected all the standards you would like to attach click the 'Use Checked Standards' button

 

If you want to view or remove the standards you've attached to the Lesson use the '' button. When you click this, a pop up window will appear that will allow you to view and remove the standards.

Use the check box to the left of the standard(s) that you would like to remove and click the 'Remove' button at the bottom of this screen

 

If you have Standards attached to the Lesson Plan's Unit you can pull them in

While on the Modify Lesson Plan screen, click the 'Green Standards ' icon and a pop up window will appear

 

Use the check box to the left the standard(s) that you would like to use in the lesson plan. Once you've finished your selection click the 'Add Checked Unit Standards' button

Lesson Plan Fields

These are a mixture of check boxes and free text fields that make up the content of your Lesson Plan. The fields are based on the template that your school or department is using, so they may have different names than what is shown in our examples. 

 

Creating Gradebook Assignments From The Lesson Plan

For Lesson Books that are tied to a Gradebook, you can create Gradebook Assignments directly from the Lesson Plans.

These assignments will automatically have the Standards from the Lesson Plan attached to them

In the Lesson Assignments Area of the Lesson Plan, fill in a name for the Gradebook Assignment and click the 'Add' button

 

Pick a due date for the assignment and check off the box that says 'Push to Gradebook'

 

Select the additional assignment options that appear, such as Category and Grade Type.

Use the check boxes to have the assignment show up on Parents Portal and Gradebook

Once you have the assignment settings the way you want them click the 'Save Lesson' button

 

Now the assignment has been pushed to the Gradebook

  • Once grades are posted for the assignment you will see the class average from here
  • You can add as many assignments from this one Lesson Plan that you want
  • Use the 'Trashcan' to delete any assignment that you've made here
  • You can also click on the name of the assignment to quickly jump into the Gradebook and view the assignment spreadsheet

Documents

You can attach documents to your Lesson Plans by using the Upload Document tools at the bottom of the screen

Click the 'Choose File' button to browse your local machine for the document you would like to attach. Once selected click the 'Upload File' button and the document will become attached to the Lesson Plan

Outside of storage space, there is no limitation to the number of documents that you can attach to a Lesson Plan

All the major file types are also supported, so you can attach pictures, videos, Word docs, Excel docs, PDFs, etc.

Click the 'Trashcan' icon to the right of a document to delete/remove it
