TABLE OF CONTENTS

Detention and ISS Attendance Events

The "Detention" and "ISS" Events are designed to work with the "Detention" and "ISS" screen to take detention and in school suspension attendance:

When the Det or ISS checkbox is checked, the following features are turned on for the Event:

  • If a student checks into a "Det" Event on a day on which they are scheduled to serve a Detention, their Detention record is updated to indicate they have served it.
  • If a student checks into an "ISS" Event on a day on which they are scheduled to serve an In School Suspension, their ISS action record is updated to indicate that they have served the ISS.
  • This information is displayed via the "Completed" column on the Conduct→Detentions - Suspensions screen:

Detention Events - Configuring a Specific Type of Detention

If you are configuring a Detention Event, once you have created the Event, you will be able to specify the specific kind of Detention the Event will apply to.

A gear icon will appear next to the checkbox in the "Det" Detention column identifying this as a 'detention event':

Clicking the  icon brings up a ''Select Detention Type for Detention" popup:

Guidance Events

Guidance Events - where the checkbox in the "Guid." column is checked - are designed to capture the student's Guidance Counselor information.

When the Guid. checkbox is checked:

  • Guidance Counselor id is included in the Event record.
  • Guidance Counselor's name is displayed on the Event Tracking screen.
  • A search on "Guidance Counselor" on the Event Tracking screen (Turnstile>Event Tracking) can be done.
  • The "My Students Waiting to See Me" WebDesk built-in data peep for 'the current user' will display students who have checked into the Event and are associated with a "Guidance Counselor" staff member linked to the current user.  The "My Students Waiting to See Me" displays a list of students waiting to see the 'current user' (if the current user is linked to a Guidance Counselor id).

Special Services Events - SS

Special Services Events - where the checkbox in the "SS" column is checked - are designed to capture the student's Case Manager information.

When the SS checkbox is checked:

  • Case Manager id is included in the Event record.
  • Case Manager's name is displayed on the Event Tracking screen.
  • A search on "Case Manager" on the Event Tracking screen (Turnstile>Event Tracking) can be done.
  • It should be possible to create WebDesk panels that find Events for a specific case manager.

Cafeteria, Entrance, and Library Media Center Events

Events flagged as either a Cafeteria Event (Cafe), a general Entrance Event (Ent.) or a Library/Media Center Event (Lib.) do not interface with other modules of Genesis:

What does this mean?

  • These three Event types are for categorization purposes only.
  • They do not cause other features to turn on elsewhere in Genesis.
  • When a student or staff member checks into an Event of one of these types, it simply means that the event type can be searched on the Turnstile>Event Tracking screen.
  • WebDesk 'student list' panels can be created that list students who checked in with specific types of Events, including each of these types.
