The Accommodations Tool
Once setup, the Accommodations tool is available, when editing lesson plans, to add accommodations for students to the plans. The Accommodations tool has up to 7 categories of accommodations:

These are not setup for you: the category names as well as the individual lists of accommodations within the categories are setup locally by your district. This article details how to do that setup.
Setting Up the Accommodations Tool
The Accommodations tool setup has two distinct steps:
- Create a "Codes Table" for each of the up to seven categories. See the :Setting Up Accommodations Codes Tables section below. Each category requires a separate Codes Table.
- Adding the Accommodations category Codes Tables to the "Accommodations Settings" fields at the bottom of the Lesson Planner->Setup->Admin Tools screen:

Setting Up Accommodations Codes Tables
Codes Tables are found on the Setup->Codes screen. Genesis itself supplies hundreds of Codes Tables and they are used throughout the system. For Accommodations, you will need to create your own Codes Tables: you must create one Codes Table for each of the up to seven separate Accommodations categories.
Procedure to Create a Codes Table
- Go to the Setup->Codes screen.
- Find and click the "Add Table" button:

- This brings up the "Add Table" dialog box:
You must make up and enter a Code and the Description. The Code can be anything you want (but must be unique across all the Codes tables, but the description should the name of the Accommodations category.
- After creating the table, you will be brought to the "Modify Table" screen. The new table will initially have no codes in it (it will be empty

- You must now add all of your individual accommodations for the category to the new table. To do this please follow the directions found here: Editing Codes Tables.
- Once you have added your individual accommodations to the new "Accommodations Codes Table" for the category, you can either create another Accommodations Codes table (for another category of accommodations), or go to the Lesson Planner->Setup->Admin. Tools. screen to add the new table to the set of Accommodations Codes tables defined there (see below).
TIP
When Codes Tables are created they are NOT in alphabetical order. New Codes Tables appear at the bottom of the list of Codes tables. You must put them in alphabetical order either manually by changing the "Sequence Number" of tables or by clicking the "Resequence Alphabetically" button at the top of the Setup->Codes screen:
Configuring the Set of Accommodations Codes Tables
Once you have created at least one Accommodations Codes table, you can set up the Accommodations tool.
Procedure to Setup the Accommodations Tool
- Go to the Lesson Planner->Setup-->Admin Tools screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and locate the "Accommodations Settings":

- Initially all of the "Accommodations Codes Table" fields will be empty. To select one of the Accommodations Codes tables you have create, click the drop down for one of the Accommodations Codes Table fields. These will be in the order in which they appear on the Setup->Codes screen (see the Note regarding alphabetizing codes tables).

- Locate and select the table you want to add to your list of Accommodations Codes tables:

- Repeat steps 3 & 4 to populate as many of the seven Accommodations Codes table fields as you desire.
- When you are done selecting tables, click the "Save Configuration" button at the bottom to save your selections.
- You can repeat this procedure as often as needed to setup -or resetup - all your categories of accommodations.
