Lesson and Unit Plan Templates allow you to create and control the fields that are listed in teacher's lesson plans.

Creating Custom Lesson Plan Fields
- Go to the Lesson Planner -> Setup ->Custom Fields screen.
- Currently you can create up to 15 custom lesson fields per school
- Fill out as many fields as you would like
- Click the 'Save All Custom Fields - ' button to save and create the fields
- Go to Lesson Planner->Setup->Templates
- Click the 'Modify - button
- Use the 'Display' check boxes to set your custom lesson plan fields to show up
- After setting each field to either display or be hidden be sure to click the 'Save Screen - ' button
- Each field that is checked off to display will show up on each teacher's lesson plans that are using this template
Creating Custom Unit Plan Fields
- Go to the Lesson Planner -> Setup ->Custom Fields screen
- Currently you can create up to 10 custom unit plan fields
- Fill out as many fields as you would like
- Click the 'Save All Custom Fields - ' button to save and create the fields
- Go to Lesson Planner->Setup->Templates
- Click the 'Modify -' button
- Use the 'Display' check boxes to set your custom unit plan fields to show up
- After setting each field to either display or be hidden be sure to click the 'Save Screen - ' button
- Each field that is checked off to display will show up on each teacher's unit plans that are using this template
Creating Lesson Plan Templates
- Go to the Lesson Planner->Setup->Templates screen
- To add a new Template, Locate the empty Code and Template Name fields at the bottom of the list of Lesson Plan Templates
- Fill in a Code for the template - this is what Genesis uses internally to identify the Template.
- The code should be in upper case letters with no blanks or punctuation.
- This field cannot be changed after it is set.
- Fill in the Template Name - this is a long description for the Template
- The Template Name can be updated at any time.
- Click the 'Add Template - ' button
- Fill in a Code for the template - this is what Genesis uses internally to identify the Template.
- Use the 'Display' check boxes to set your custom lesson plan fields to show up
- After setting each field to either display or be hidden be sure to click the 'Save Screen - ' button
- Each field that is checked off to display will show up on each teacher's lesson plans that are using this template
Assigning Lesson Plan Templates to Teachers
Manually selecting lesson plan templates on a lesson book
Teachers can manually select which lesson plan template they are using for each lesson book from the lesson book preferences screen.
All lesson plan templates that are available to teachers will be selectable
Mass Assigning Lesson Plan Templates To Teachers
- Go to Lesson Planner->Setup->Templates, and select the lesson plan template that you would like to mass assign to teachers
- At the bottom of the template you will see Propagation Options that will allow you to push out the template to other users. Select one, click 'Save' and the option to apply for all teachers will appear.
- This template will replace the default template for the user - As it says, it will make this template the current one for the user
- This template will be given to the user - This option will make this lesson plan template available to the user, but it will not replace the currently selected templates on any of the user's lesson books
- Click the 'Share this template with all teachers in school' button to push out the lesson plan template to all teachers with the above chosen method
Assigning Unit Plan Templates to Teachers
- Go to Lesson Planner->Setup->Templates, and select the unit plan template
- At the bottom of the template you will see Propagation Options that will allow you to push out the template to other users
- Check off the option 'This template will replace the default template for the user', click 'Save' and the option to apply for all teachers will appear
- Click the 'Replace template for all teachers in school' button and all the teacher's unit plan templates will be updated to this one
