It is possible to have teachers sign off, via the Gradebook, that they have read a student's IEP and they have set up their signature.
When this feature is enabled, students with an active IEP will appear on the Gradebook spreadsheet (Gradebook→Gradebook) in red highlight and a pencil icon will appear next to the student's name - if the teacher is marked as representing the student.
When the teacher clicks on the pencil icon they will an opportunity to sign the active IEP.
Signing the IEP
Clicking the pencil icon brings up the student's Info screen (Gradebook→Gradebook→Student Info):
This screen now includes a "Student IEP" section on its right side:
From here the teacher can sign the IEP. Simply clicking the button signs the IEP (if the teacher has set up a signature):
Enabling The Sign IEP Feature
To enable this feature For a school, do the following:
- Go to the Setup→Schools→List of Schools screen
- Click edit icon for the school you wish to enable this feature for (it must be done by individual school). This brings up the Basic Parameters screen for the selected school.
- Locate the "Require teacher signatures for student IEPs" parameter in the Special Education section towards the bottom of the page and check it.
- Click save to store the change.
Controlling the Text of the "Sign" Prompt
The default text for the prompt shown to the teacher when they click the pencil sign prompt is "I have read and agree to implement the IEP as written".
To customize this text, do the following:
- Go to the Gradebook→School Setup→Maintenance→Gradebook Maintenance screen.
- Locate the "Text to appear above teacher signature box" parameter at the bottom of the "Gradebook Configurations" section of the screen.
- Customize the text as you desire.
- Click save to store the change.
Note that this will change the text only for the current school (the school selected in the screen header).
