Taking Attendance for Team Calendar Events

Preparing to Take Attendance for Team Events

In order to take attendance for a team event, you must first:

  1. Have set up the Team with a Turnstile Event to use for attendance.  You - or an administrator - can do that on the Athletics->Setup->Team Settings->Attendance Settings screen.  Go here for more information.
  2. Create a team Calendar Event.  You can do that on the Athletics->Team Dashboard->Calendar screen.  Go here for more information.

Taking Attendance For a Team Calendar Event

Using the Athletics->Team Dashboard->Attendance screen to take attendance.

The screen allows you to take attendance for any existing team Calendar Event:


  1. Go to the Athletics->Team Dashboard->Attendance screen.  If you are the coach for one or more teams, your teams will be available in the drop down at the top of the screen.   Select the team you want to take attendance for.
  2. Select the date.  The date will default to "today".  Attendance will only appear if you have a Calendar Event already created on the selected date.
  3. If you have a default attendance code ("present" or "absent") already selected for the team, all team members will be immediately assigned that code - and the codes will be posted (i.e. stored) for each student.
  4. To change a code - or a select a code - click in the "Present" or "Absent" box corresponding to the student you want to post for.  That immediately selects the code for the student - and posts or stores it.
  5. You can also indicate that the student was "late" (which automatically selects "present") or "Left Early" (which also automatically selects "present").  
  6. There is no "save" button: updates are stored immediately.

CAVEAT: You must visit this screen to post the default code for the date of the event.  The "default" attendance code is ONLY posted once you visit the screen.


Taking Attendance from the Athletics->Team Dashboard->Calendar Screen

You can take attendance for a team Calendar Event directly from the Athletics->Team Dashboard->Calendarscreen.  If you are the coach for one or more teams, your teams will be available in the drop down at the top of the screen.   Select the team you want to take attendance for.

To post attendance for an event:

- The Event must be for 'today' or for a prior day.  You cannot post 'future attendance'.

- Click on the blue "event" link:

This brings up the information for the Calendar Event.  If the event is for 'today' or a prior day, you will be given the option to post attendance:

You will be able to see the current attendance code settings for all team members for the selected event.  To take attendance, click the "Take Attendance" button.  This takes you to the Athletics->Team Dashboard->Attendance screen, preset to the selected Calendar Event:

You can now take attendance as described above.


Note: there is an optional 'Exempt' attendance code that can be enabled.  More information is available here.
