Unit Plans

Unit plans allow you to organize your lesson plans into groups. You can attach standards and fill out unit text fields which both can be easily pulled into the lesson plans inside the unit.

Unit Plans Screen

Adding a New Unit

To add a New Unit to your lesson book, click the 'Add New Unit' button in the bottom left corner

  • There is no limitation to the number of units you can have in a lesson book

Copying a Unit

To create a copy of an existing Unit Plan in your lesson book, click the 'Copy  button

  • It will add the copy to the bottom of the list of Units. 
  • It will also give the newly copied Unit Plan the same name as the original, but it will append '- Copy' to it (so you may want to give it a new name)

Deleting a Unit

To delete a Unit Plan from your lesson book, click the 'Trashcan  button

  • You can only delete a Unit Plan from your lesson book if there are no lesson plans in it

Pulling in Curriculum Mapped Lesson Plans

If there are mapped lesson plans available for the selected lesson book a green message will appear towards the top of the screen.

 

Click the 'View Units' button and a pop up box will appear that will allow you to pick and choose what Unit worth of lessons you can copy into the current lesson book

 

In order for this to work, your lesson books must be tied to a course code that has curriculum mapped lesson plans.

Users can view/edit the course that is tied to their lesson books via: Lesson Planner->Lesson Books->Modify Book

  • Lesson Books that have been auto created will already be tied to a course

Modify Unit Parameters Screen

Customization Parameters

  • Unit Title - This is the name of the Unit. Feel free to change this at any time
  • Target Course - You can list any of the courses you teach here as targets for this Unit.
  • Font and Background Color - Lets you customize the colors of how the Units appear on the Lesson Planner Calendar screen

Standards

You can attach standards to your Unit Plan by using the '' button. When you click this, a pop up window that allows you to search for standards will appear.

 

Select a subject, standard, and grade level(s), then click the 'Search Standards' button

Use the check box to the left of the standard to select it.

  • There is no limit to the amount that you can select at once
  • You can also add standards from multiple strands and subjects, you are not locked into one selection

You can optionally use the 'Star ' to the right of a standard to add it as a 'Favorite Standard'

  • This way it will show up when you filter your search by 'Favorites Only'

Once you've selected all the standards you would like to attach click the 'Use Checked Standards' button

 

If you want to view or remove the standards you've attached to the Unit use the '' button. When you click this, a pop up window will appear that will allow you to view and remove the standards.

Use the check box to the left of the standard(s) that you would like to remove and click the 'Remove' button at the bottom of this screen

 

These standards can be pulled into any of the lesson plans that exist in this Unit Plan

While on the Modify Lesson Plan screen, click the 'Green Standards ' icon and a pop up window will appear

 

Use the check box to the left the standard(s) that you would like to use in the lesson plan. Once you've finished your selection click the 'Add Checked Unit Standards' button

Unit Plan Fields

These are free text fields that make up the content of your Unit Plan. The fields are based on the template that your school or department is using, so they may have different names than what is shown in our examples. 

 

These Unit Plan fields can be copied into any of the lesson plans that exist in this Unit Plan.

While on the Modify Lesson Plan screen, click the 'View Unit Fields' button and a pop up window will appear

 

Select the Unit Plan Field that you want to view and you'll be able to select the text in the field. Use your computer's method of copying and pasting to grab and place the text wherever you would like in the lesson plan

Documents

You can attach documents to your Unit Plans by using the Upload Document tools at the bottom of the screen

Click the 'Choose File' button to browse your local machine for the document you would like to attach. Once selected click the 'Upload File' button and the document will become attached to the Unit Plan

Outside of storage space, there is no limitation to the number of documents that you can attach to a Unit Plan

All the major file types are also supported, so you can attach pictures, videos, Word docs, Excel docs, PDFs, etc.

Click the 'Trashcan icon to the right of a document to delete/remove it
