Overview
When registering or pre-registering a student from Open Registration, they can be merged with an existing student if they are inactive, and have the same last name and date of birth.
When enabled, the Merge screen will appear automatically when a match is found:
How to Enable the Merge screen
The Merge tool is enabled on the Registration > Setup > Settings screen, by checking the setting Enable Merge Screen. Note: The Merge screen only appears when registering a student from Open Registration, who has the same last name and birthdate as an existing (inactive) student.
Merging an Open Reg Student with a Genesis Student
Once the Merge screen appears, you may choose to Merge the newly registered student with an existing (inactive) Genesis student, or, continue the registration as normal (New Student or Pre-Register).

Q: What occurs when a Open Reg student is merged with an existing Genesis student?
A: The following will occur when choosing "Merge Open Reg Student with existing Genesis Student":
- Previous year data such as Grades, Attendance, Documents etc., will be retained.
- Registration process will use data from the Open Reg package but pre-populate Student ID with the existing Student ID
- Open student tracking records on existing student (if any) will be exited
- Any previous HL survey for student will be removed and replaced with HL from Open Reg package
- Any User Text or User Flags that exist on the student that are also a part of the Open Reg package, will be removed and replaced with the new values
- All current year Contacts (including address, phone and email) will be removed and replaced with Contacts from Open Reg (previous years will be retained)
- Any existing Next Year Assignment will be removed
Q: What happens to the existing student's Fees and Fines?
A: Any fees or fines (open or close) are kept in place, including any payments made.
