Getting Started in the Athletics Module

Genesis includes support for secondary school athletics. Facilities are included to do the following:

• Track Student's Sports Eligibility
• Track Sports Interest by student's not yet participating on sports teams
• Track Sports Participation by school year, season, team, sport and level (e.g. JV).
• Track students health forms, physicals and steroid release forms

Tools Provided to the Athletic Director and Staff
 There is an "Athletics" Module within Genesis. This provides direct support to the athletics staff to do the following:

• Search for students by the criteria that matter most to the Athletic Director and coaching staff: 
  • Team participation
  • Physical form status
  • Release Status
  • Steroid form status
  • Level (Varsity, JV, …)
  • Season, Sport, Grade Level
• Setup and manage the list of Sports in Genesis
• Print Athletics-related Reports

Athletics-related Screens on each Student's Record
Each student's record contains a set of athletics-related screens.

These include:

• Athletics – The Student Data>Modify Student>Athletics screen. This is an overall summary of the student's participation on sports teams during their career in the school district. It includes information has to whether the student has submitted the necessary documents (physicals forms, steroid forms, sign-up sheets, health record forms) as well as a record of their actual team participation.
• Sports Eligibility – The Student Data>Modify Student>Athletics>Sports Eligibility screen. This screen implements the NJ State Sports Eligibility criteria and measures whether a student is currently eligible according to those criteria. An "audit" of the student's eligibility situation is available.
• Sports Interest - The Student Data>Modify Student>Athletics>Sports Interest screen. This screen is used to indicate students' interest in possibility participating on sports teams. It is used to help identify students team coaches should be seeking out at 'tryout time'.
